Failure of Karna in Draupadi Syamwara

Failure of Karna in Draupadi swayamvar from direct reference :-

Karna came to participate in Draupadi swayamvar :-

Adi Parva Section-177

‘Dhrishtadyumna said, “Duryodhana, Durvisaha, Durmukha, Dushpradharshana, Vivimshati,
Vikarna, Saha, Duhshasana, Sama, Yuyutsu, Vatavega, Bhimavegadhara, Ugrayudha, Balaki,
Kanakayu, Virochana, Sukundula, Chitrasena, Suvarcha, Kanakadhvaja, Nandaka, Bahushali,
Kunduja and Vikata—these and others are the immensely powerful sons of Dhritarashtra.
These warriors have come with Karna for your hand.

This narrative clearly says that Kauravas has come with Karna to participate in the swayamvar

The narrative says that Karna only came with Kauravas but it doesn't prove that he came along to participate in the swayamvar

Disrobing :-

Professor V.S Sukthankar the editor of Adi Parva of BORI CE himself accepted that Dhrishtadymna was telling the name of competitors not guests. Here's the statement of Prof. V.S Sukhthankar :-

"He had been invited by her father. A t least he was given a seat of honour
among the princes. He is specifically named by Dhṛṣṭadyumna among the suitors
(1. 177. 4)."

So here it's clear that Karna was there as a participant not as an audience.

Failure of all the participants :-

Adi Parva Section- 178

‘Then, one after another, those kings exhibited their valour for Krishna. But the bow was so
strong that with all their strength, they could not string it. The firm wood of the bow recoiled
and flung those brave rulers of men on the ground. They failed in their desire and could be
seen on the ground, miserable and broken in spirit. That firm bow caused them pain and
shattered their bracelets and earrings. Having lost hopes of obtaining Krishna, that assembly
of kings was crestfallen. In that assembly, those kings who boasted of noble birth then became objects of derision. Kunti’s brave son Jishnu then arose, wishing to string the bow
and place an arrow on it.’
So here it's clear from the direct reference that Karna came as a participant and all the participants failed to string the bow and since Karna was also a participant so he also failed to string the bow.

2). Failure of Karna in Draupadi swayamvar from cross reference :-

Adi Parva Section-179

“O Brahmanas! If
Kshatriyas like Karna and Shalya, who are famous in the world, have great strength and are
well versed in Dhanur Veda,22 could not string the bow, how can this weakling Brahmana,
with no knowledge of weapons, succeed?

Now here it's clearly written that Karna and Shalya failed to string the bow

The narrative says that Kshatriya Karna failed to string the bow but Radheya Karna was not a Kshatriya

Disrobing :-

Nowhere in the whole Mahabharata it's written that Karna was not a Kshatriya and a Suta can't be a Kshatriya. Infact Karna himself accepted that he followed the dharma of a Kshatriya :-

Udhyoga Parva Section-48

Karna replied, “O grandfather! You have lived for a long time. You should not speak in this way. I have been established in the dharma of kshatriyas and have not given up my own dharma. What is the evil conduct for which you are censuring me? The sons of Dhritarashtra know that there is no sin in me. Instead, in every deed, I have sought to please King Dhritarashtra and Duryodhana, because he is the one who rules the kingdom.”’

Here Karna himself said that he followed the dharma of a Kshatriya hence he was a Kshatriya.

Another proof of failure of Radheya Karna in Draupadi swayamvar :-

Professor M.A Mehendale himself said in his book that Radheya Karna failed in the Draupadi swayamvar

Quote of M.A Mehendale :-

"But most important of all, Karna is specifically mentioned in a stanza which names a few Kings who tried their hand on bow but had failed"

1). M.A Mehendale didn't worked on Mahabharata project hence his words can't be taken seriously

Disrobing :-

M.A Mehendale himself said that he followed the research of V.S Sukhthankar in his book.

Furthermore, M.A Mehendale was the president of Bhandarkar Oriental Research Instrument aka BORI. Here's the proof :-

So the president of BORI can't be wrong and doubting on president of Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute is like doubting on the authenticity of BORI CE.

Hence Karna failed to string the bow in Draupadi swayamvar.

Arjuna easily string the bow which Karna failed to string :-

Adi Parva Section-179

‘Arjuna came to where the bow was and stood there like a stationary mountain.
Circumambulating the bow in accordance with the rites, the scorcher of enemies bowed his
head to the bow and joyously grasped it. In the twinkling of an eye, he strung the bow and
grasped the five arrows.

So here Arjuna clearly exposed the incompetency of Karna by stringing that bow which Karna failed to string.
